Winter Bridal Events Coming to Springfield, Ohio

I've got a couple bridal events coming up in the near future for you today. The wedding landscape in Springfield is changing in a good way. More brides are looking to work with local vendors, and more out of town brides are traveling to the area for their ceremonies. Find out more about everything that's happening for 2017 by attending these events.

The first event is the Winter Bridal Show this Sunday, January 22, from noon to four at The Derby Banquet and Conference Center at Windy Knoll. There will be food, demonstrations, door prizes and discounted services available to attendees. Check out this cool video featuring a behind the scenes look at a wedding we did over the summer at Windy Knoll to get an idea of what the space is like.

Should I DIY my wedding flowers? Six Reasons to Hire a Professional Florist for Your Wedding

DIY weddings are an enormously popular trend in the United States right now. A lot of brides want to save money and have more control over the process. When it comes to your wedding flowers, is it really a good idea to do them yourself? Here are six reasons why you should consider hiring a professional florist to handle your wedding flowers.

Cost: It's not uncommon for DIY brides to spend as much on raw materials as they would have spent on finished products designed by a professional.

Schneider's Florist 2016 Year in Review

2016 was a great year at the flower shop! Besides all weekly updates of beautiful flowers, we did a ton of other fun stuff.

Back in February, we talked about why we send flowers, how to send flowers like a boss, and sending flowers to say "I'm Sorry".

In March I published the blog's most popular post ever, Plan Your Wedding With Schneider's Florist, where I unveiled our fabulous new bridal consultation suite and we met our new wedding expert, Ashley Neinaber.

In May, to make flowers the easiest part of your wedding, we launched our very popular Wedding Packages Service.

We got into videos this year! Our video of Ashley making a bridal bouquet, and this fabulous video of wedding decor at the Windy Knoll Golf Club both earned thousands of views across various social media platforms.

In July, we attended the AIFD Symposium in Anaheim, and we made time to visit Disneyland!

In October, we gave away free flowers in Snyder Park for Petal It Forward. Look for us to participate in PIF again in 2017.

Your Wedding Consultation With Schneider's Florist

Wedding dreams become reality at Schneider's Florist

Last time I talked about wedding planning at Schneider's Florist. I showed you the beautiful stained glass window in our brand new Bridal Consultation room and I introduced our wedding specialist, Ashley Nienaber. Today I want to let you know what to expect and how to prepare for your wedding consultation.

Setting up your appointment: Call 937-323-4634 or email schneidersweddings@gmail.com to arrange a date and time. Our hours are 8-5:30, Monday through Friday, and Saturday 8-2. 

When you arrive: You will be taken to a private room away from the daily activity of the flower shop. Your wedding is important to us. We want to make sure you are given the appropriate level of time and attention in planning your day. 

Warm and inviting. Our private consultation room is where your ideas come to life.

What to bring: The most important thing to bring with you is color swatches for your wedding. We will also want to know the venue for your ceremony and reception. Bring along contact information for the other vendors you are working with so that we can coordinate with them as needed. There's no such thing as too much information!

We want to see your ideas! What is your inspiration? What is your theme? If you have a Pintrest page or your own website, we want to see it! Bring along any photos you have or you can email them to schneidersweddings@gmail.com in advance if you prefer. 

The consultation process usually takes an hour or two. We will spend time getting to know you and gathering as much information as possible about your wedding and all the participants. We will look at everything you provide for us and show you lots of beautiful flowers and any rental items you may be interested in. 

A beautiful bouquet is just the beginning

Ashley has a great personality and she is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to wedding flowers. She will have great ideas for you. We always want to exceed expectations and I'm confident we can do that. 

After your consultation, we will craft a proposal for you based on your needs and the availability and pricing of the flowers and anything else we will be providing. We partner with wholesalers from all over the world to bring fabulous flowers to our brides. Within a few days, we will email the proposal with an estimate for your consideration. If you decide to accept the offer, we will take a $150 deposit at that time to save the date, with payment in full being required three weeks in advance of your wedding date. 

It's been really exciting to create this new space and bring a specialist on board for our wedding services. After meeting with us, you will understand why we are the only choice to execute your unique vision!

A beautiful stained glass window is the focal point of our fabulous new private consultation room.  

Weddings are such an important event in people's lives. Beautiful fresh flowers are viewed as a must-have for the big day. We understand the need for brides and their families to have confidence in their florist. To that end, we have created a new private space on the second floor for brides to meet with our designers. The room itself is stunning. Twenty foot ceilings, a large stone fireplace, and beautiful north light coming through gigantic stained glass windows let you know that brides hold a special place in our hearts and we are dedicated to helping make your day perfect.

A room is just a room without people. We now have a wedding specialist who coordinates all of our weddings and meets with all of our brides.

Meet Ashley Nienaber, Our New Wedding Coordinator at Schneider's Florist

Ashley Nienaber got her start with us in 2004 while she was studying Graphic Design at Clark State. She fell in love with with weddings and became an ABC Certified Bridal Consultant in 2006. After getting married and moving to Cincinnati in 2009, she worked as head Floral Designer, Buyer, and Wedding Consultant at Jungle Jim's International Market. In 2011, she moved to H.J. Benkens Florist and Greenhouse to take over their wedding department. During that time she planned over 450 weddings and won Wedding Wire's Brides Choice Award every year, placing H.J. Benkens in the top 5% of all wedding floral vendors.

After becoming a mother in 2013, she continued working part time for H.J. Benkens and Wedding Market News. In 2015, she moved back to the Springfield area and we snapped her up. She is our new wedding consultant. We are excited to have her back on the team!
